Two Males Arrested After Carjackings in Whitby

Two males have been arrested after multiple carjackings in Whitby.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 4:40 p.m., members from Central West Division responded to a suspicious person call in the area of McQuay Boulevard and Renfield Crescent. Two male suspects approached a female outside her residence, demanding they keys to her vehicle. The female was able to safely enter her home and the suspects fled the area.

Minutes later, police received a carjacking call in close proximity to the suspicious person call. A taxi driver was parked in the area of Renfield Crescent and Jacob Drive when two masked suspects entered the taxi and demanded the keys. The driver, fearing for his safety, exited the vehicle. The suspects fled the area in the taxi.  

Shortly thereafter, police received a third call in the area of Dundas Street and Fothergill Court for a carjacking. A Lexus was parked at a residence and the driver was at the rear of the vehicle, when the suspects approached and pointed a handgun at the victim in the front passenger seat. The suspects demanded the victim get out of the vehicle, and fled the area in the taxi and Lexus.

With the assistance of Air1, officers located the stolen taxi in Whitby and took one suspect into custody. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded handgun and a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine.

The stolen Lexus was located in the area of Rossland Road East and Wilson Road North in Oshawa. The DRPS Tactical Support Unit (TSU) conducted a search of the area and located the second suspect carrying a loaded rifle and a quantity of fentanyl. The male was taken into custody.

No physical injuries were reported

Rhys CROASDALE, age 25, of No Fixed Address is charged with several offences including: Robbery x3; Disguise with Intent x4; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Robbery using a Restricted or Prohibited Weapon; Point Firearm; Carry Concealed Weapon; Possession Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Release Order x4

At the time of his arrest, CROASDALE was on release orders in relation to firearm charges and was wanted with two other police services.

Nicholas MORTON, age 29, of Belleville is charged with several offences including: Robbery x2; Disguise with Intent x3; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm; Robbery Using a Restricted or Prohibited Weapon; Point Firearm; Carry Concealed Weapon; Possession Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

Both were held for bail hearings.
