Concealed Firearm Located During Impaired Arrest
A concealed firearm was located tucked into a male’s sock and pantleg after he was arrested for impaired operation of a vehicle.
On Saturday, November 25, 2023, at approximately 12:15 a.m., members of Central East Division observed a motor vehicle that appeared to have collided with a hydro pole in the area of Mary Street North and Adelaide Avenue East in Oshawa. Officers approached the vehicle and observed a male in the driver’s seat. The male was assisted out of the vehicle and treated for minor injuries. The male appeared to be impaired by alcohol and was arrested . A search of the male revealed a concealed firearm in the male’s pantleg and sock. The firearm was safely removed and seized by police.
Nicholas RAMPERSAUD, age 24 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Exceed Blood Alcohol Level, Unlicenced Person Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, Carry Concealed Weapon, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, and Possess a Firearm Knowing the Serial number has been Tampered with.
He was held for a bail hearing.
