Drugs and Firearm Seized after Assault Call in Oshawa

On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at approximately 10:25 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to an unknown trouble call in the area of Park Road North and Rossland Road West in Oshawa. Two male suspects assaulted a male victim and struck him with a firearm. The suspects fled prior to police arrival. Further investigation led to the identification of one of the suspects.
The victim was transported to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, members of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of the DRPS Tactical Unit, executed a search warrant at the residence of one of the suspects, located in the area of Rideau Street and Anderson Avenue in Oshawa. Officers located a firearm, a large amount of cash, as well as a large quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Leyton MCCOY, age 34 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Robbery, Uttering Death Threats, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm – No Licence, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possess Other Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
He was held for a bail hearing.
The second suspect is described as male, Black, 19-29 years-old, 5’10”, slim build with curly hair. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, and black jeans.
