Four Males Arrested Following Jewelery Store Robbery in Oshawa

One male adult and three male youths are in custody following a jewelery store robbery at the Oshawa Centre.

On Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a robbery call at Paris Jewellers located inside the Oshawa Centre at 419 King Street West.  Two suspects entered the store and began smashing display cases with hammers while a third suspect demanded an employee open the store safe.  The suspects stole more than $100,000 worth of jewellery before fleeing in a nearby waiting vehicle with a fourth suspect.

Police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, however, the stolen vehicle failed to stop and a brief pursuit was initiated.  The suspect vehicle was abandoned a short distance later and all suspects fled on foot.

With the assistance of the K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and members from Central West Division, all four suspects were located and taken into custody without incident. 

Josiah MADURIE, age 21 from Toronto is charged with: Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Possess Weapon for Committing Offence.

 A 16-year-old male from Mississauga is charged with: Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Possess Weapon for Committing Offence.

A 14-year-old male from Brampton is charged with: Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Possess Weapon for Committing Offence.

 A 17-year-old male from Etobicoke is charged with: Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possess Weapon for Committing Offence, Dangerous Operation, and Flight from Police.

All four males were held for a bail hearing.
