January is Crime Stoppers Month

January is Crime Stoppers Month and this year the theme is “Stand Up, Stand Together,” to encourage people to speak with police or use the anonymous service to solve crime. Communities are safer when we work together to solve crime.

In 2022, Durham Regional Crime Stoppers received 1,563 tips that led to 53 arrests, 39 cases cleared, 167 charges laid and the recovery of more than two million dollars in property/cash/drugs. A full breakdown is below:

 

Crime Stoppers 2022:

Arrests: 53

Cases Cleared: 39

Charges Laid: 167

Property Recovered: $115,800

Drugs Seized: $1, 813 760

Cash Recovered: $135,650

Total Tips: 1,563

Since inception of the Durham Regional Crime Stoppers program in 1986, over 45,000 tips have been processed leading to 4,066 arrests, 4,127 cases cleared, 12,102 charges laid and the recovery of millions of dollars in property/cash/drugs.
