Joint Police Investigation Results in Firearm Seizure

Three people are in custody after two firearms were located during a search warrant at a Courtice residence.

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, a shooting occurred outside of a night club located in Montreal, Quebec.  Through an investigation by Montreal Police (SVPM), the shooter was identified as a resident of Courtice.  DRPS was contacted by Montreal police (SVPM) to conduct a joint investigation into the suspect.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, members of the Montreal Police (SVPM) and the DRPS Offender Management Unit with the assistance of the Central East Criminal Investigations Branch, and West Division Community Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Gord Vinson Avenue and Eastfield Crescent, in Courtice.  Inside the residence police located two firearms and ammunition.  The primary suspect was arrested by police nearby.  Another male and female were also taken into custody as a result of the search warrant. 

Ezekiel BECKFORD, age 29 of Courtice is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Restricted Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With, Deal with Firearm contrary to Registration.

Rebecca FAVREAU, age 30 of Courtice is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Restricted Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With.

Shakeem Devon BECKFORD, age 30 of Courtice is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Restricted Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With, Deal with Firearm contrary to Registration.

Ezekial BECKFORD and Shakeem BECKFORD were held for a bail hearing. 

FAVREAU was released on an undertaking.
