Male Arrested for Vehicle Theft in Whitby

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, at approximately 5:05 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a stolen vehicle call in the area of Muir Crescent and McQuay Boulevard in Whitby.  A white Toyota Tundra had been stolen out of the victim’s driveway.  Responding officers observed a white Toyota Tundra leaving the area.  They quickly confirmed it was the stolen Toyota and followed it.  When the Toyota stopped for a red light at a nearby intersection, officers were able to safely block it from fleeing.  A male in the driver’s seat was arrested without incident.

Jarred SIMARD, age 23 from Quebec is charged with: Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Mischief Under $5000, and Obstruct Peace Officer.

He was held for a bail hearing.
