Male in Custody After Fleeing Police in Stolen Vehicle

A male has been arrested after stealing a motor vehicle from a parking lot and fleeing from police in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, members of Central East Division responded to a stolen vehicle call in the area of Bond Street West and Park Road North in Oshawa.  The victim’s vehicle was stolen from a parking lot while they were attending a local business.  Police located the vehicle on the roadway a short distance away.  Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however the vehicle failed to stop and fled from police.  The accused crashed the vehicle a short distance away and fled on foot.  The accused was located hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Joshua KING, age 34 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Theft of Motor Vehicle x1, Flight from Police x1, Dangerous Operation x1, and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest x2.

He was held for a bail hearing.
