Male in Custody for Assault with a Weapon at Oshawa Residence

A male is in custody after he assaulted his spouse and another family member with a weapon at a residence in Oshawa.

On Monday, May 13, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of East Division responded to an unknown trouble call at a residence in the area of Grandview Street North and Coldstream Drive.  A female was assaulted by her spouse.  The female’s brother intervened in the assault and became involved in a physical altercation with the suspect. 

During the physical altercation between the suspect and male, the suspect used an edged weapon to stab the victim.  The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The female did not sustain any physical injuries. 

A 35-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Attempt to Choke, Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon.

He was held for a bail hearing.

The accused’s name has been withheld to protect the identities of the victims.
