Male in Custody for Multiple Vehicle Thefts
A male who was wanted by police for numerous vehicle thefts has been arrested after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.
On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, members of Central East Division received information that a male wanted by police was currently living at a residence in the area of Kaiser Crescent and Colborne Street West in Oshawa. The male had been involved in numerous vehicle thefts and was believed to be in possession of a stolen vehicle. Officers observed the male attend the front of the residence in a SUV. A traffic stop was attempted, however, the male fled from police in the vehicle. Police pursued the vehicle until the male drove into a parking lot and fled on foot. The male was located hiding in a nearby restaurant where he was taken into custody without incident. A search of the male’s property revealed a concealed prohibited stun gun.
Ryan BROCKLEHURST, age 34 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Dangerous Operation, Flight from Police, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
