Police Seize Firearm and Drugs During Traffic Stop
A 27-year-old male is facing numerous charges after a loaded firearm was located during a traffic stop.
On Friday, January 12, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of Central West Division conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Brock Street South and Keith Street in Whitby. While speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong smell of Cannabis coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted under the Cannabis Control Act and officers located a fully loaded firearm. The driver was placed under arrest. During a search of the driver, police located a quantity of narcotics.
Harman MINHAS, age 27 of Markham is charged with seven offences including; Possession of a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With and Possession Schedule 1 Substance.
He was held for a bail hearing.
