Police Week Launch

DRPS officially launched Police Week this morning at the Oshawa Centre. This year, the theme of Police Week is Building Bridges: Celebrating Police - Community Partnerships.

Chief Moreira kicked off the event and welcomed attendees to the display set up outside of Old Navy. Three of DRPS’ K9 units also helped launch Police Week and were a huge hit with everyone who stopped by. The display includes vintage cruisers and free DRPS swag.

Officers from DRPS’ Community Safety Unit will be hosting an information booth at the Oshawa Centre from Monday, May 15, through to Thursday May 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m daily.  Members from the DRPS recruitment will also be at the booth from 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. for anyone who has questions about a career at DRPS.

Police Week aims to celebrate the important role our police officers and personnel play in helping Canadian build and maintain healthy and safe communities in partnership with the communities we serve.  The Tweet-a-Long with Sgt. Cst. Joanne Bortoluss scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2023 has been re-scheduled to Wednesday May 17, starting at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to follow us on Twitter @DRPS using hashtag #DRPStweets

Along with Twitter, follow us on Instagram @drps_official or Facebook @OfficialDRPS to check out our Police Week posts. DRPS and other participating agencies will be utilizing the hashtag #PoliceWeekON to connect with our followers.

During Police Week we will be showcasing some of our community partnerships. We will be adding new videos every day.

Simcoe Hall provides assistance to over 10,000 residents every year. We are proud to assist them in their efforts. Thank you to all who volunteer with this organization. #PoliceWeekOn
