Two in Custody after Police Recover Stolen Vehicle

A male and a female are facing charges after police utilized ALPR (automated licence plate reader) technology to locate a stolen vehicle.

On Sunday, December 31, 2023 at approximately 11:45 a.m., members from East Division were on general patrol in the area of Baseline Road and Liberty Street South in Bowmanville when they located a stolen vehicle utilizing ALPR technology.  Officers checked the area and were able to locate two individuals who were in possession of the stolen vehicle.  Both parties were arrested without incident.   During a search incident to arrest officers located narcotics suspected to be Fentanyl in the possession of the suspects.

Krista SAYER, age 36 from Clarington is charged with: Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over and Possession Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.  She was held for a bail hearing.

Jean-Paul VACHON, age 46 from Clarington is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over, Possession Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2. He was released on an Undertaking.
