Two in Custody Following Human Trafficking Investigation

A male and female are in custody following a human trafficking investigation in Oshawa.

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to an assault call in the City of Oshawa. The victim was assaulted by a male and female who had forced her to work in the sex trade.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, following an investigation by the DRPS Human Trafficking Unit, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Grenfell Street and Gibb Street, in Oshawa.  Both the male and female suspects were located and taken into custody without incident.  A large amount of cash and drugs were located in the residence and seized.

Investigators have concerns there may be more victims and are releasing photos of both accused (attached).

Nashon SIMMONS, age 30 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Trafficking in Persons, Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided Over 18, Procuring, Advertising Sexual Service, Assault, Possession for the Purpose (Cocaine) and Possession for the Purpose (Fentanyl).

Candice JEANS, age 34 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Trafficking in Persons, Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided Over 18, Procuring, Advertising Sexual Service, Assault Possession for the Purpose (Cocaine) and Possession for the Purpose (Fentanyl).

Both were held for a bail hearing.
