Youth in Policing Hiring Now - Summer 2024

Applications for the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) Youth in Policing (YIP) 2024 Summer Initiative are now open!

YIP is a paid personal, professional, and community development opportunity for Durham youth aged 15-18. The program has been running since 2006 in partnership with Ontario's Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Applications are open until April 2, 2024 @ 4:00 PM for Student and Team Leader positions; visit www.drps.ca/yip to apply!

Each year, YIP employs more than 160 youth from across Durham Region. As employees of the DRPS, youth engage in hands-on learning experiences that emphasize the importance of leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. YIP aims to empower others to make positive changes within their communities, personal lives, and the lives of others.

Through the 2024 Summer Initiative, students can build self-confidence allowing them to make a difference within themselves and extend to their communities with the aim to collectively make a ripple effect of positive change. Youth will participate in a variety of workshops, training, community work, personal/professional development, DRPS unit presentations, and more!

To be considered, candidates must first complete the Google Form application found at www.drps.ca/yip before April 2, 2024 @ 4:00 PM. As a part of the selection process for this position, all applications will be assessed through an application review, interview, and background check. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted no later than April 16, 2024. All interviews will take place between April 17-21, 2024.
